Dance Year Checklist

I am so excited to begin the new dance year! I love seeing all the fresh new faces! I also enjoy being reunited with all the returning faces after having a few weeks off! With the new dance year starting along with a new school year, you may be asking yourself, “How can I get my child ready for class?”. I am here to help! Check out the top 5 things to make sure you scratch off the list before sending your child to dance class for the new year!

  • Properly fitted dancewear! We need to see the lines of their body in order to help them with placement and technique. Dancewear that is too bulky does not allow for proper corrections and dancewear that is too small can be extremely uncomfortable in class!
  • Label everything! This is a must! We have hundreds of dance shoes that come through the studio each week! In the event that one of your items is lost, it is so much easier to return it to you when it’s labeled with your child’s name!
  • Secured hair! Know the hair requirements for each class. If it is ballet, a neat ballet bun is required. For all other classes, hair should be secured tightly in either a bun or a ponytail. Loose hair can be distracting to everyone!
  • Be on time! When a student comes to class late, they miss the warm-up and/or instructions for the beginning of the class. By missing the warm-up, they are at a higher risk of injury since their muscles are not warm for class. It is also very distracting to other dancers for students to enter late.
  • Encourage them to practice at home! Ask your child what he or she is learning in class! Practicing at home will give them the most success both at the studio and on stage!

I am looking forward to an incredible year! For over 10 years, we have provided quality dance education to our community! This year is no different! Welcome to season 11!

Always dancing,
Mrs. Christina
