Untapped Movement

You may remember this past summer that we were chosen to be a part of the Untapped Movement!  It was an absolutely incredible experience for our dancers!  The further we got into the experience, the more I found myself in awe of how much our girls were learning about themselves and other dancers.  So what is the Untapped Movement? "Untapped is an inpirational movement motivating people to reach their full potential through stories that encourage and inspire. The movement aims to connect dancers, studios and stories from around the world."

Our dancers will be feautured in a section of the Untapped Movie coming to a theater this December.  The Untapped movie will be one to take your dancer to.  "After a tragic accident, a young girl is forced to live with her estranged grandmother. Haunted by the demons of her past, she embarks down a path of self-destruction. Her life changes when a psychologist suggests dance as an alternative way to communicate her pain. A compassionate instructor and a group of gifted friends help her "untap" a talent she never knew she possessed."

After we received our music, we got busy with choreography.  Dancers age 7 through adult learned the choreography within two weeks.  We teamed up with Devoted Dance located in Chalmette, Louisiana.  We made some great new dance friends and had a wonderful time as we went through the process together!

Young Brothers Production Company came in to film us.  They were wonderful and so easy to work with.  They helped to ease the girls nerves and made the atmosphere fun!  We performed, had an improv circle and enjoyed a question and answer time.  The question and answer time was emotional as each girl discussed what dance has meant to them throughout different seasons of their life.  As I watched tears pour from some of their faces, I learned so much more about each of them during that time.

I was thankful to have a private interview with the production crew to discuss how Footprints began, its humble beginnings and how it has evolved over the last 11 years.  It was an unforgettable experience and a great message to dig up the untapped potential in all of us!

Stay tuned for our showing date in a local theater this December!

Always dancing,
Mrs. Christina
